Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 989

Cub Scout Pack 989 is chartered by the Mill Creek Elementary Parents for Scouting.  The Pack was formed in September, 1989, when Mill Creek Elementary School was first opened and continues to serve boys in grades 1 through 5 who attend the school or live in the general area.

Come join us and see what a difference Scouting can make in the life of your son and your family!

Raingutter Regatta Rules

The Raingutter Regatta is an opportunity for the boys to build and design their own sailboat using the materials in the regatta kit. Boats are raced in 10' lengths of raingutters in a double-elimination tournament.  Races are based on Ranks (Tigers, Wolfs, Bears, Webelos). Once the race begins, the boat may not be touched until it has reached the end of the track (even if it tips over). Click for more details on the material and design requirements.  These are taken from the 2007 District Derby rules.

BOAT  SPECIFICATIONS AND DESIGN:  Must use original materials included within the official kit.  Modifications/accessories may be added as long as basic kit is used.

HULL: No longer than 7", nor shorter than 61/2". Must be a single hull design as pictured in kit, no catamarans or single hulls with outriggers allowed.

MAST: 61/2" from deck to top.

KEEL: Supplied in kit.

RUDDER: Supplied in kit.

SAIL: Supplied in kit. Sail as installed can be no larger than the material supplied.

OFFICIALS:  Design judging will be done by a committee of individuals not associated with any pack. Derby Day officials have the right to disqualify any entry not complying with set specifications or anyone disagreeing with decisions in an unsportsmanlike manner.  The Derby will be run as a double elimination.

PRIZES:  Awards will be given 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each grade group in both race and design.
